Triveni Sports Pvt. Ltd. has unveiled its franchise, Triveni Continental Kings, for the prestigious Global Chess League (GCL).

Triveni Sports Private Limited (TSPL), a joint venture of Triveni Engineering & Industries Limited (TEIL) and Triveni Turbine Limited (TTL), announced its presence in sports with the Global Chess League. TSPL through its franchise, Triveni Continental Kings (TCK), embarked on an extraordinary journey by becoming the maiden champions of the Global Chess League.

The 2023 team boasts an impressive lineup of six ace chess players, world-renowned Levon Aronian, Armenian Chess Grandmaster, and highly talented prodigy, Wei Yi. Other notable players include Yu Yangyi, China's 29th Grandmaster and a leading junior player; Kateryna Lagno, a renowned Russian Chess Grandmaster; Sara Khadem, an Iranian chess player who holds the titles of Woman Grandmaster and International Master (IM); and Jonas Buhl Bjerre, a Danish Chess Grandmaster. Under the expert mentorship and coaching of Loek Van Wely, a distinguished chess player and the current National Coach of Italy, the players of Triveni Continental Kings are set to make their mark in the league.

Triveni Group has a long association with chess through Mr. Dhruv M. Sawhney, Chairman and Managing Director, Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd., and Triveni Turbine Ltd., who besides being a chess enthusiast, has also served as the former President of the All-India Chess Federation for 12 years and have a profound appreciation for the intricacies of the game.
